6o Geniko Lykeio Neas Smyrnis, Greece

Our school is located in Nea Smyrni, a south suburb of Athens, in a newly built and open area, 20 minutes far from the Acropolis. There are 330 students and 33 teachers in our school. The age of our students is 15-17. The school facilities include 1 computer science lab, 1 chemistry-physics lab, a library, a large lecture hall and fields for playing football, basketball and volleyball. During the latest years many student educational groups are active such as the rhetoric group, the robotics team, the environmental team and the social work team.

We really wanted to participate in this joint project work with groups of pupils from different countries, since we strongly believe that it would give our pupils the opportunity to practice foreign language skills and increase their motivation towards language learning and digital skills development. Pupils were expected to acquire and improve skills not only in the topic or subject area on which the project is focused, but also in terms of teamwork, intercultural learning, social relations, planning and undertaking project activities and using information and communication technologies (ICT). Of course, through this project, our main goal was to strengthen the European dimension and build up our students’ capacity for cross-border cooperation and their ability to cope with new challenges.

Mobility activities will promote the common values of freedom, inclusion, tolerance and respect to the difference regarding culture, language and education. Last but not least, we expect stronger relationships between students and teachers, improved team work in class, improved cooperation among teachers, introduction of innovative teaching methods, and the increased interest and involvement of parents in school life..
